Easy ways to get on top of family life

Sharing is caring!

Running a family household is one of the most stressful jobs on the planet! There is so much stuff to keep on top off, and so much goes on behind the scenes. You need to prepare meals every day, make sure your kids are cared for, and so much other organisational stuff. And usually women are doing this while also juggling a job and social commitments! There’s no wonder, so many of us feel burnt out so often. You’ll be very happy to hear that there are plenty of ways you can help yourself and make the workload feel a whole lot easier if you put your mind to it. Intrigued to find out more? Read on!

Plan Out Your Week

Don’t think you can get away without planning your weekly tasks. You will find that spending some time creating a weekly plan will help save you time. And all the extra time on your hands can be used for fun things rather than chores! Think to yourself all the jobs that need to be done in the week. Set yourself times for when you will complete them. You don’t need to write them down into a planner, but if you do, this will help you see all the spare time you have. Don’t forget also to add in all your work and social dates. You will also need to add any times you know you will be out picking the kids up from their various clubs and sports. I’m lost without mine, we also have a calender with a column for everyone.

Get Everyone Involved

Don’t think you have to do all the household jobs yourself. Get everyone else involved! Hopefully, you and your partner will already share the chores between the both of you. If not, it is time to get him on board. You shouldn’t be left to do all the hard work yourself! If your kids are old enough, get them to lend a hand too. They may not be so keen on this idea, so you may need to give them an incentive such as pocket money! If you have teenagers, you could leave them in charge of cleaning their own bedrooms and doing their own laundry. Younger children can help out with doing the dishes and folding clean clothes. All of the family can help at meal times whether they set the table or chop vegetables!

Use Smart Technology

Technology can do so much for you around the house! You will already be using a lot of it already without even noticing it. Everyday appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, and even coffee makers all count. But in the past few years, there has been a surge in smart technology thanks to the popularity of apps, tablets, and smartphones. You can download apps that now let you turn your lights off and on while you are not home. These are great in the battle against burglars! Other apps and new tech help you regulate your energy and electricity so that you save on heating bills. If this sounds of interest to you, smart72 has info here. If it all sounds a bit too tech-heavy for you, you can still use simple apps to help you around the house, like planner apps!

Get Friends And Relatives To Help Out

Do you and your partner both work full time and your children have lots of after school clubs? Or just a scatterbrain like me? Then it can be difficult figuring out who can take and pick up the kids. There can very easily be clashes in all your schedules, but that doesn’t mean someone has to miss out on anything. One of the easiest ways to make sure everyone can be where they need to be is to ask for help from friends and relatives. If you’re friends with some of the other mums at your child’s hobby clubs, see if they will be able to pick up or take your child. You could maybe start sharing lifts. Not only does this save you time but it will also help you save some cash on petrol! If this isn’t possible, I’m sure a relative will be able to help out with lifts, so if you ever need some extra help, don’t be scared asking your close ones.

Don’t Try And Do Too Much

Think you can clean the house all in one go once you get back from work? Think again! If you try to rush things, you won’t be doing a good job. Over time, dirt will continue to build up, and you will have to put twice as much effort in. Trying to do too much at once will only have negative effects. No matter in what area of life. Trying to be a domestic goddess and juggling too much in your home life can lead to a lot of stress and anxiety. This will lead to bad moods, and you could become very irritable. You just won’t be any fun to be around! So take things slowly and don’t bite off more than you can chew. If things feel like they are getting too much, take a step back. It is always worth taking some time for yourself and giving you plenty of chance to recharge your batteries. This applies to other areas aswell as housework.

Professionals Can Always Help

If you think you are spending too much time doing chores, housework, and DIY, why not call in the professionals? Not only can they get the job quicker than you, but they will be taking a job off your to-do list. So you will have more free time for your family and friends. Think you have a leaky pipe? Don’t waste time trying to fix it yourself; call a plumber. Running out of time to clean your home? Sounds like it might be worth hiring a cleaner. Whatever the job, you will certainly find someone who can help you in the phonebook!

Hopefully, this guide will help you make your family life much easier. And then you will have much more energy to spend time with your friends and family. Just think of all the fun things you will have time to do now! You could even start a new hobby, or if you’re anything like me, a new businesss…
