Getting Things Done: Important Jobs You Can’t Do On Your Own

Sharing is caring!

For us mums, it sometimes feels like the jobs never end. To-do list keep on growing, and the weekly schedule is always packed full of chores. But no matter how busy we may feel, I bet none of us ever ask for much help from friends, family, and professionals. Why not, though? If we asked for help every now and then, life would be so much easier. And there would be much more free time to spend with the kids! So which jobs should you try and get someone to help you out with? Here are some of the top ones that you can’t do on your own.

Moving Home

Are you planning on moving home soon? Many couples try to move on their own, but this can get messy very quickly. I’ve done it with or without help and trust me, that professional help is worth spending the money. Especially if you don’t have anyone looking after the kids! It is always a good idea to see if a friend or relative can look after the kids while you are busy moving. They will only get bored and start complaining otherwise. And this will just add to you and your partner’s stress! It’s also not a good idea to move all your belongings in your car. That’s going to take you multiple journeys. It’ll be a lot easier to enlist the help of a courier company who specialise in removals, such as Shiply Transport.

Childcare

If you and your partner work full time, you could be finding it tricky to juggle your childcare. This shouldn’t be so hard if you work different shifts and one of you is always home. If you both work from nine to five every weekday, you could be finding it difficult to manage. After all, not all of us can afford to give up work to look after the kids! Ask your close relatives if someone would be able to look after the kids while you and your partner are at work. If no one has the time, consider hiring a childminder or a nursery. My childcare is a jumble of 2 days of nursery, school, my parents and sometimes friends and family. It generally works out ok! Holidays are always tricky, there are holiday clubs though if you’re desperate. Some nurseries offer a creche like facility where you can get childcare for a couple of hours on an ad hoc basis. If your children are at school, take turns with other school mums for play dates.

Decorating

Does the thought of sprucing up your home fill you with dread? Decorating will take up a lot of your time and energy, so maybe it is better if you just pay to have a professional decorator do the hard work for you? This way, you can keep the kids occupied, so they don’t end up getting in the middle of all the mess! A decorator will be able to do the work much quicker than you could have managed. And to a higher standard as well! We’re saving up and getting professionals in rather than doing it ourselves.

Party Planner

Kids love birthday parties, and you should definitely plan one when your child turns a year older. Not much time on your hands? No problem! There is now a large demand for children’s party planners, and you will be able to find one who can organise the whole event. Just let them know your budget and ideas, and they will plan an amazing party that your kids will never forget! Alternatively, book a venue that does it all for you.

Ironing

If you have the budget to spare, hire out your ironing, this is what I aspire to – at the moment I don’t iron, my husband irons one shirt at a time as he needs it, meaning the ironing board is permanently out and annoying and he gets in the way each morning.

What would you hire out if you got the chance?
