Full disclosure: this is not me in the photo above! Although I think of it as me in my mind’s eye. It’s been a long dream of mine to have a home office, a hub for my blogging enterprise. A place where I can have inspiring art, motivational quotes, and a pinboard for projects. As we are planning on extending our house, it looks like I’ll be able to have a little corner of the home just for me and my work.

Whether you have a workspace at the end of your garden, a separate room for your office or a corner of the dining room (me), it’s your space and it’s time to make it work for you.

Have a think about what you want to achieve from your workspace. Yes, it should have an ergonomic desk and a comfortable chair to work from, but more than that the colours you choose, and the accessories can all affect your productivity and mood.

With that in mind, I’m putting together a mood board of ideas for how I want my office space to look. A great place to get inspiration is from Staples displays.

Office Furniture Made for Bloggers

I will be choosing my furniture carefully. I don’t want to just get the cheapest one, I need it to function for my needs. So, what do I need it to do for me? I’d like my desk to have a place for a laptop, that’s a given. I also need to future-proof it, if I do get a desktop computer and a bigger setup in years to come, my desk will need to accommodate it. I have a dream of having two screens, an all singing all dancing PC so I can do amazing video and content creation.

Along with the computer, I’ll need enough storage space. I don’t have much equipment, but enough drawer space for the few papers I have (contracts, receipts, etc.) plus my notebooks and diaries that I have a slight addiction to! I also get sent products from time to time to review, so a deep drawer for those would be good, or a shelving unit. There are so many online stores to explore for furniture now, including this one furniturebox.co.uk.

I’d also like somewhere to store my camera, props, and backdrops. I’ve seen setups like these which I think would work.

Her desk doesn’t have any drawers, but the shelving unit makes up for it, and I love the clean lines. I don’t know if I’ll have as much space, but this is some inspiration for me.

I just adore this setup from My Full House, they have kept it light and bright with a distinct theme. Everything is close to hand and it would work in a compact space. I love the green plants, something I always enjoy in my space. Even if the plants are fake, they still make me smile.

Another great example of practical and stylish office space is below, I like the curved desk and pinboard above, with lots of storage. Splashes of pink break up the white and the chandelier give it a really feminine feel.

Accessories perfect for Bloggers

There are loads of cute office accessories and they all depend on your style and ethos. I vary from being minimalist grey black and white to full-on eclectic colour and plants everywhere. I think a mixture of the two will work well, and as long as I have storage to hide any mess I will be OK. I’ve talked about pinboards a lot, I think they must feature prominently, I love the ones with ribbon and fabric on them.

Pegboards are becoming very popular now and they are very versatile. You can put shelving on to them and pin absolutely anything and they look good. Loads of heavy duty shelving for plants and stationery accessories will top it all off, and a wall calendar so I know what’s going on. I really like the calendars which have all the awareness and special days on, so you can plan your social media content out.

At the moment I like to work with a TV on in the background, although it is a big distraction for me. What I might do is take my Alexa show up with me and have a small screen on in the background to help me focus better.

I’m so looking forward to experimenting with design and space when I can and creating my dream workspace. Have you got a home office for blogging? What are your essentials?
