Hello Everyone!
Three years ago we moved into our current house, our ‘forever home.’ It needed a lot of work doing to it, we are only the second owners and it was built in 1939! My next door neighbours are forging ahead with their loft conversion at the moment and it’s got me thinking about our plans for the house. We’ve done some work – our number one job was plumbing in a washing machine as they didn’t even have plumbing for one, but it’s all come to a bit of a standstill, probably since we had a certain Baby D. Among my new year plans will be to kick start it again. We even have a lot of the materials we need it’s just a matter of having the time to implement them. To motivate myself I’m putting it down here, if it’s down in black and white I have more chance of getting it done (that’s the theory).

I’m inspired by colours and the natural world when it comes to bathrooms, like these:

My husband prefers a more minimalist ‘hotel style’ look so we’ll probably end up with something nearer that with colourful accessories!
At the moment our two older ones share a room and Baby D has his own small room. We’d keep the family bathroom but there is already competition for the toilet and bathroom at key times! It’s ok that they’re sharing for the moment but I can see it becoming a problem in a few years. When we do our loft conversion the two boys could share a bigger room or somebody could keep the small room. It would mean that we could have a master bedroom to die for with an en-suite – luxury!
I really like the double VELUX windows in this picture complete with matching blinds, if it was possible I’d love lots of light to come in to the room during the day and some stargazing at night with the option of shutting out the morning light.

I love this conversion, and the design is so simple yet with splashes of colour. I can see myself sitting at the dressing table or relaxing on the bed (maybe one day!). This picture is from Amazing Space Lofts, their work looks impeccable and I’d definitely consider them for the job.
I plan on checking back on this post and updating as I get these jobs done, hopefully by this time next year I’ll be closer to the end of the list!

We have just done a list for our house too (as a pre moving what needs to get done :p) i am not sure whether it will get done though :p thanks for sharing yours, now I know we aren’t alone 🙂 also I love that bath tub – although freestanding tubs scare me! #TheList

December 18, 2015 at 3:44 pmThat’s a pretty long list, but since it is your forever home, there is no immediate rush, is there? I really like your ideas. The bath with the dragon flies is fab!

December 19, 2015 at 8:37 pmWe have a velux window in our bathroom and I love how much light it lets in.
That reminds me, I must get a new blind ordered! 🙂
Sounds lovely, what colour scheme is it?
December 19, 2015 at 8:43 pmYour house looks just like the one I grew up in!! Built in the same era and not many owners too, my parents recently sold it to a new family who probably have a list a lot like yours!!
We just moved in to our first family home – it was rented out for about 20 years and is an ex council house so there’s a lot that we want to do to it too, in fact our list is even longer than yours!! Everything we have uncovered so far is botched jobs so we are being very careful about what we start because we know it could turn in to a long job!
Enjoy your lovely home

ps- I dream of a hotel style home, but lets face it, with kids it’s never going to *really* happen is it?
December 19, 2015 at 8:41 pmNo, I think it only really comes together after they’ve left home! Good luck with your project, as long as we fill it with love and laughter we can’t go far wrong
December 19, 2015 at 8:45 pmGood luck with getting it all done and turning your forever home into one that reflects your personalities and suits your family. 🙂 Our house comes with Rev T’s job so we take what we’re given and are very grateful!
December 22, 2015 at 2:52 pmAh, that’s nice, we’ll get there in the end x
