If you told someone you felt strange and possibly ill, they would ask you ‘what do you mean by, possibly?’ Nausea is difficult to describe. You feel like you’re about to be sick or feel like you’re at the precipice of falling ill. But, you’re not quite there. So it’s incredibly easy, yet short-sighted, to think you’re making mountains out of molehills. Nausea is caused by many things and your body reacts in just as many ways. Here are some easy at-home treatments to try.

Feel like vomiting?

Nausea can make you want to empty your stomach contents. The sudden feeling that you’re about to vomit can induce panic and fright. But there are ways to calm your body down. Have a rest. Simply stop moving and sit down. Spread your legs apart and lean back so your diaphragm can move to its lowest angle. It’s best to sit where you can get fresh air, such as outside in your garden. At the very least, open a window and pull your chair close to the window sill. Face the oncoming air and breathe through your nose and mouth. In a gradual manner, drink cold water. Avoid eating solid foods as this could trigger vomiting.

Light-headed and heavy?

Nausea is a very peculiar feeling. You feel queasy and disorientated. Your body is feeling almost every weird feeling it can, at the same time. It’s common to feel light-headed but as if your body weighs double what it normally does. If this occurs to you, try to lay flat on your bed or on the ground. Spread your arms out and take deep breaths. Close your eyes to stop the room from spinning. Before you do this, you can take a couple of droplets of CBG oil underneath the tongue. It’s known to have mood-balancing and anti-nausea effects. There are different kinds of products with different strengths, so choose carefully and read up on what the health benefits of this oil are. When you feel like you’re coming back to normal again, slowly rise up onto your feet, while still breathing in a concerted manner.

Heavy legs, light arms

A somewhat common symptom of nausea is when your legs feel like they’re full of lactic acid, but your arms are very light. It can also lead to feeling as if your center of gravity has shifted from your stomach and lower back, to your waist. Sitting down will definitely help, but drinking a glass or two of water will speed your recovery. Eat something with a bit of fat and sugar like a chocolate bar and you should slowly feel your energy returning.

Smaller meal

If the symptoms of nausea are still persisting, eat a lighter meal before you go to bed. Rather than something heavy such as a meat dish, try vegetables, potatoes, cheese, eggs and or soup. This will give you the energy you need while not upsetting your system.

Nausea can feel very off-putting and strange but don’t worry. It usually subsides by itself but taking deep breaths of fresh air and drinking cold water, will bring you back to normal.
