To outsource or not to outsource: that is the question!
There are sometimes reasons why you shouldn’t. If you have the time to manage your various business tasks effectively, or if you have people on your team to delegate to, you might not need to outsource at all.
However, sometimes, it is worth paying for professional help. This is especially true if they can improve your online business in some way. Such as? Well, we list some examples below. Have a read and then check out our best practice tips on working with outsourcing partners.
#1: Marketing
You can market your business yourself, via social media, email, and your website blog posts. But if you are going it alone, you might not get the best results. You might even put people off with your marketing efforts, especially if you send a poorly timed Facebook post or write a marketing email that offers little value to the customer.
You can improve this area of your business by outsourcing to professional marketing agencies or individuals. Experts in PPC management, email marketing, SEO, and other digital marketing techniques could greatly increase the visibility of your business. Certain marketers could do more to impress your customers too, such as those who could create better Facebook ads or blog posts.
#2: Web design
You may have created your own website, perhaps with a free website builder, but how does it compare to those that have been professionally designed? Bounce rates will be high if your site visitors don’t like what they see, especially if it is similar in looks to these bad website design examples. They will also head away from your website if it’s not functional to use, be that because of broken links, confusing navigation, or slow loading times.
Your online rivals will get the upper hand if they have better websites than yours so don’t let that happen. A professional web designer will give you and your visitors a site that looks and feels good. They will also optimise it for mobile devices, which is a necessity in this age of tablets and smartphones.
#3: Customer service
If you’re a solopreneur, you will be the only member of your customer service team! This is bad news if you receive a lot of product inquiries, return requests, ordering questions, and other communications from your customers. It can be difficult to find the time to answer the phone, reply to email enquiries, and manage social media comments when you’re working alone. It can also be hard to do all this with an in-house customer service team, as they will have to shut down for the day at some point.
Your customers will be understanding if you don’t reply to them straight away. But if you take an age to get back to them, perhaps because you are too busy with other things, they will start to get disgruntled. They might even complain about your business online! You can manage their needs and your own by outsourcing to a customer service team, especially one that has knowledge of your particular kind of business.
So, think about your business. What tasks do you struggle to manage effectively? Where do you need the most help? Think about it, and then consider outsourcing if you know it will help and improve your online business.
