Quick Fixes for your hair

Sharing is caring!

I despair with my hair sometimes – I like having long hair, I love the way it looks down and when styled nicely, but when I’m in stressed out mummy mode it gets scraped into a ponytail and I get that non-intentional messy look.  I’ve got fine hair which has thinned a little after having my last child and probably as I’ve got older…

I colour my hair with highlights when I can get to the salon, I’ve been colouring it since I was 18, it’s not too dissimilar from my original colour, but I hate it when there’s too much regrowth.  I try and get it done regularly, but life and finances often get in the way.

Hair care quick fixes

This was the last time I had my hair done, it was months ago, I really need it done again!  I’ve been sent a product to try that you can use to touch up your hair from The Hair Experts if you’re like me, so I was willing to give it a go to see if it would help.

What is The Hair Experts touch up?

The touch up kit is a highly pigmented hair powder that offers full coverage of unwanted regrowth as well as greys. It’s perfect if you have no time to get to the hairdressers in between colours.  You just simply use the brush applicator to apply the pigment to the regrowth. The product is compact and comes with a handy mirror, which you can fit in your purse and make up bag. Even better the product is under £10.00, making it an affordable solution to extending trips between the salon.  At the moment it’s exclusive to Boots.

Does it Work?

Well, I gave it a go, it looks a bit like eyeshadow – it’s easy to apply and it does work, I probably have too much regrowth for it to tackle so I tried it on a small section.  I think it works best if you have a small amount of regrowth, or you want to touch up some greys.  I have a few (ahem) grey hairs on each side which are noticeable when I put my hair up.  It covered these well but you do need a few goes with it to get a decent effect and you only get a small amount in the compact – that said it still has plenty left in it.

AFTER – I’ve done a section so you can compare

So you can see it does work, I’m glad I’ve got it in my make up/haircare kit.  I’ll definitely be using it when I need to look glam.

Fixes for thin and thinning hair

I’ve also been trialling some shampoo, conditioner and hair growth serum from Nanogen.  I love the way my hair looks when I’ve got my extensions in, but it would be nice to give my natural hair a boost.  Nanogen has a shampoo and condition range that promises to give women added shine and an instant thickening and volumising effect with peptides, anti-ageing hyaluronic acid, and breakthrough Nanogen growth factors.  It’s suitable for those who are using minoxidil.

My hair fell out in droves after having Daniel and it’s never quite recovered.  I have a ‘widow’s peak’ hairline which seems to be gradually receding much to my annoyance.

The natural look – greys, roots and receding hair line!

I’ve been using the serum which smells nice and has no side effects as yet, it’s too early to say whether new hair is growing!  The shampoo and conditioner are great, I noticed a difference straight away and my hair looks shiny.  The Shampoo and conditioner are under £8 and the serum is £29.95.

Maybe you could try some hair extensions? I’ve tried some before but they were very heavy in my hair. I’ve also tried having them put in at the hairdressers, but I really enjoy brushing my hair, and I didn’t like the way they caught on the brush. Have you found any good hair extensions that are comfortable to wear? Let me know please.

Have you tried any hair fixes or growth products?  What did you find?
