What Causes Teeth Misalignment And What Fixes It?

Crooked teeth are quite common. The majority of people have teeth that are not straight or aligned, which is the more technical term. There is no one reason for this, as there are many lifestyle factors that affect our oral structure. Sometimes it is our fault, due to the persistence of bad habits. Other times, it’s not and it’s purely down to chance that our teeth just emerge crooked. Even still, there are ways to fix our crooked teeth long into adulthood. Thanks to the latest technology, there is one particular solution that is affordable and more effective than traditional train-track braces.

When it’s our fault

When our teeth are emerging, our habits can affect how they finally set in place. If teeth are emerging, it’s vital that we don’t put undue stress on them. This means, avoid eating hard foods that require consistent chewing before swallowing. Foods such as nuts, hard fruits like apples, and tough meats can cause the tooth to loosen and then set into a crooked position. Be more aware that your gyms are sensitive and soft, so eating hard foods is something to avoid.

Evolution to blame?

Scientists believe that our jaws have become smaller and as a result, our teeth no longer have the room to protrude straight and true. This is something that could be due to processed food, which requires less chewing than previous generations, who would be eating raw foods more often. The teeth have not gotten smaller yet the jaw has. This can be painful as nicking the inside of your cheek while chewing, is a sign that your jawline is not in proportion to your gums and teeth.

Misaligned jaw

Another reason for your misaligned teeth is your misaligned jaw. If you had a facial injury growing up and it was a blunt force impact to the jaw, this could be a reason why your jaw is not straight. Inherently, your teeth will be grazing up against the inside of your mouth. This can cause discomfort over time and your body will learn to adapt and when you are speaking or chewing, your jaw will misalign. As you can imagine, your teeth will therefore also shape in a way that makes chewing easier and therefore become crooked over time.

A modern solution

All is not lost, you do have some amazing options but there is one that is shoulders above. Clear aligners use modern 3D printing technology to align your teeth in record time. Conventional braces will take 12-18 months to fix your teeth. You’ll need to have regular visits to the dentist and it will make eating and brushing a chore. Not to mention, clear aligners can be up to a third of a quarter of the braces cost of conventional types. Metal braces could cost up to $8,000, while clear braces cost up to $1,899.

Teeth misalignment is quite common among children and adults. There are many factors that can cause this but, regardless of how and why there is a modern solution that fixes the issue thanks to 3D laser printing technology.
