Forget the Eiffel Tower, think Big Ben. Instead of thinking that you have to cross the channel, you should look at crossing London Bridge instead. The capital is always touted as having something for everyone. So, if we’re really going to test that, we need to find what it has for the lovebirds amongst us!
If you want to start a date off well, then you want something that’s going to help stimulate the mind. Something that gets the two of you talking, laughing, and simply enjoying one another’s company. Thankfully, London is absolutely full of entertainment. Aquariums like Sea Life London can be a good treat if you love a bit of bright coloured nature. Or if you want something a little more traditional, you can give it a twist. Instead of going to any regular cinema, look to see where the Secret Cinema is going to pop up next.
Table for two
After a bit of mental stimulation, of course, you’re going to want some food and drinks. You’re in luck because in classy bars and romantic restaurants London can’t be beaten. There are classic relaxing eateries like the Social Eating House or Michelin Star quality food at places like Chez Bruce as well. As for places to have a drink after, there are clubs like XOYO if you feel like getting your dance on, as well as quiet, classy bars like the Dalston Jazz Bar.
A bit of culture, too
If it’s an early meal you’re after and you’re not too fussed about having a drink together, then instead you can have a taste of a bit of culture, too. If you’re art lovers, then there are plenty of galleries, including the always acclaimed Tate galleries. The Borough Market provides a bit of a different experience, with all sorts of gourmet sights and smells, close enough to the Southwark Cathedral that you can chill out there with a nice coffee and admire up close. London has museums in spades, too, from the Tower of London experiences to the Victoria & Albert Museum. Whatever your speed is, you’ll find it.
A lovely view
At the end of the date, there’s nothing like a gorgeous view to enjoy together. If you want that in London, there a few places to get it. The Shard is a great spot, but if you want an experience that just shouts romance, then you might want to book yourself a Cupid’s Capsule on the London Eye. Not only do you get the view, but you get some chocolates and a bit of bubbly to enjoy the company with, as well.
There’s no doubt that there’s plenty to do, plenty to see, and plenty to eat and drink in London. All of it not too difficult to reach via the red buses or the tube, either. The next time you want to splurge on a romantic getaway, save on the trip and spend more on the experiences themselves by going a little closer to home.
