Whether you’re here as a part of a quick browse to learn more about fertility or are looking to start a family, you’re in the right place. We’ve teamed up with a fertility treatment centre in London to share a list of ways in which you can boost your chances of getting pregnant.

Have Sex More Often

It goes without saying that increasing the number of times that you’re having sex can boost your chances of getting pregnant, especially during the time of ovulation. Experts say that to get pregnant, you should be having unprotected sex at least 3 times a week.

Ovulation and The Fertile Window

Following on from the last point, your ovulation date is key to getting pregnant. It’s when an egg is released by your ovaries and both the egg and sperm can meet. This is typically about 14 days before your next menstrual period. It’s worth noting that the length of each individual’s cycle varies so it may not be exactly on day 14 but is handy to note as it can help create a rough guide. A period known as the “fertile window” is when you have any chance of conceiving and is when you should be trying in order to get pregnant. This is typically five days prior to ovulation and the day after ovulation as sperm can survive in the uterus for several days.

Strive for A Healthy Lifestyle

Weight can affect fertility which is why it’s important to take care of your health. That goes for being both overweight and underweight as it can inhibit ovulation. Also, having a clean and nutrient-rich diet containing antioxidants can boost your chances of getting pregnant as they are thought to remove the free radicals that damage both egg and sperm from the body.

Eat Food Containing Fibre

As well as regulating your bowels, fibre helps to keep your hormones in check. It removes those in excess such as oestrogen by binding it to the ovaries. Foods that do a good job of this are avocados, sweet potatoes, oats, and fruits.

Multi-Vitamins

While they should never be taken as a substitute for a healthy balanced diet, multivitamins can help to address deficiencies and improve your chances of getting pregnant. According to research, it is estimated that 20 percent of ovulatory infertility can be avoided by taking 3 forms of multivitamins.
