There’s a brand new amazing service for pregnant women and new mums that’s never been available before, It’s an app called Ask the Midwife, which will initially be out on iOS and then rolled out to android. It’s not just for pregnant women, in fact anyone who would like to use it can. Whether you are an expectant mum, dad, grandparent or family friend, you can feel reassured and relaxed for the duration of the pregnancy and with your brand new baby.
Women will be able to ask a qualified and experienced midwife a one off question, use the chat facility or have a monthly subscription. Ask the Midwife is the UK’s first ever health advice app that has been designed and run by Registered Midwives. You will be able to get a fast response to any questions you may have, nothing is too embarrassing or too much trouble. No more worrying about things you don’t understand, feeling like you don’t want to bother your midwife with lots of questions, or using Google as a source of information, which can lead you into trouble and conflicting advice. All you have to do is Ask the Midwife! For the first time ever you can get a fast response to any questions you have via this app.
There will be midwives available for you 7 days a week to give you piece of mind on the most amazing journey you will ever make. You can subscribe to their newsletter to be first to hear news and updates about the app, which is launching in May 2016. They also have a Facebook page with lots of news and related mother and baby information, plus they have #freebiefriday where they have awesome giveaways each week! If you’re a small business, they also have a partner section.
How does the Ask Service work?
Ask is a one question, one answer service where you can send a message via the Ask the Midwife app and get a fast response from a registered Midwife. Ask is for general information only and not to be used in an emergency.
What to expect from the Ask the Midwife CHAT Service
The Ask the Midwife chat service is a real time message service where you can request a chat conversation with a registered, expert Midwife. This is a fast response service to discuss any problems, concerns or questions you may have surrounding pregnancy, birth & beyond.
How much does Ask the Midwife cost?
The Ask the Midwife app is free to download, and you get one free ask when you download. After that the prices are as follows:
1 off question – £1.99
Up to 10 minute one off chat session – £14.99
1 months subscription, unlimited use – £24.99
9 months subscription, unlimited use plus discounts to online baby boutiques – £19.99
So, for under £20, even if you sign up when you first find out you’re pregnant, you get a midwife on hand 24/7 for the rest of your pregnancy and the first weeks with your baby, which I think is a really good investment, trust me you’ll need it when it’s 2am and you’re not sure what to do, it’s not urgent but you’d really like some professional advice!
Disclosure – I have not been paid for this post, however, I will be one of the midwives working for Ask the Midwife.
