3 Awesome Travel Destinations to Take the Family in Europe

Being a parent is a full-time job – ask anyone who works a 9-5 and then has to come home and make dinner, help with the kids’ homework, and then do your best to get them ready for bed and sleeping! And although it’s an extremely rewarding endeavour, it’s also exhausting. For that reason it’s important to take a break every now and then; not only to recharge your batteries, but also for your own sanity! It’s vital to take as many short travel breaks as possible, providing they fit with your schedules. This doesn’t mean you have to take a sabbatical for three months, but a week-long holiday to a beautiful destination will do wonders, and also allow you some special time with your partner. Here are some of the best European family-friendly holiday breaks.

Dessau, Germany

If you’re the type of family that likes culture but also loves being outdoors then Dessau might just be the ideal destination. It’s not at the top of everyone’s “must-visit” lists, but this only adds to the charm. The small German town has the appeal of a fairy tale, and with a number of iconic attractions in the area such as the Bauhaus Dessau – a UNESCO world cultural heritage site – and more than a few castles and beautiful parks and meadows, you’ll never get bored. There are a number of good hotels in the area which offer great deals for families and easy access to the town centre, meaning you won’t have to waste time travelling long distances!

Paris, France

It’s hard for anyone to not love Paris, kids included. The French capital is a melting pot of innumerable different cultures and is one of the most visited cities on Earth. For good reason, there are countless sights to take in as you walk down the beautiful streets radiating out from the Eiffel Tower. And with Disneyland Paris just a short train ride away, the whole family will be able to experience some crazy and adventurous fun!

Rome, Italy

If your kids are into culture and history, then Rome has more museums than you could possibly shake a stick at. The Leonardo Da Vinci Museum, for example, has more than 200 machines designed by the man himself, and with 51 working models, the kids will have more than enough to distract them while you and the husband sip on a macchiato or two. And then of course there’s the food – no family in the world can resist pizza or pasta, and where better to enjoy it than the capital of the country in which it was made and perfected?
